A 20-year-old male who was detained in relation to a fatal shooting in Trotwood is now free on bond

The man, who was arrested in connection with a shooting that resulted in the death of a person in Trotwood last week, has posted bond. He is twenty years old.

As was previously reported by News Center 7, Donte Lamar Cotton, who is 20 years old, was taken into custody on Tuesday, October 22 and charged with the felony offense of tampering with evidence.

In addition, according to the records kept by the Montgomery County Jail at the time of his arrest, he was being investigated for a preliminary charge of murder.

In connection with the shooting that took place at an apartment complex located in the 5000 block of Autumn Woods Drive, which resulted in the death of Ja’niyah Hardy, who was 18 years old, he was taken into custody.

In accordance with the records of the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, Cotton posted his bond of fifty thousand dollars on Friday, October 25.

The Montgomery County Jail Records do not contain any information about Cotton anymore.

For the time being, the Trotwood Police Department is continuing their investigation into the shooting.
