Residents of Cupertino are experiencing disruptions today as the Santa Clara County Fire Department attends to a significant gas and water leak reported on Creekline Drive.
The incident was first reported at 8:13 a.m., and emergency crews, including firefighters and a hazmat team, are on the scene, along with representatives from Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E).
According to the official social media post, a 2-inch gas line has been damaged, prompting evacuations and shelter-in-place orders for several blocks.
Residents have been steadily evacuated from the affected areas, which extend from Creekline Drive to Jeanette Court, Kenmore Court to Festival Drive, September Drive to Fiesta Lane, and November Drive to November Court.
Furthermore, a shelter-in-place advisory is in effect for the area bounded by November Drive, Creekline Drive, and Jeannette Court.
The Santa Clara County Fire Department advises those in these areas to remain indoors, keeping their windows and doors closed, as the event could last several hours.
