A knife-wielding rider was arrested following an Orinda BART assault

A 20-year-old man from Menlo Park was arrested at the Orinda BART stop on Friday after police say he may have robbed someone and hurt someone else.

At about 9:20 p.m. on Friday, police were called to the station because there had been a report of a fight on the train, with one person reportedly brandishing a small, hooked knife.

When the cops arrived, one of the victims had already left the scene and boarded another train. However, they did find someone on the platform with a serious facial injury.

Officers finally found a suspect, Toetuu Tameifuna, by following directions from a witness. They used force to arrest Tameifuna after he allegedly fought against being arrested.

Tameifuna is being held at the Martinez Detention Facility right now on suspicion of robbery and assault and battery charges. The amount of bail set for him is $130,000.
