A woman accused of causing a deadly crash has been formally charged.
Montgomery County prosecutors have indicted Tiffany Pierce, 34, on one felony count of aggravated homicide and an OVI, according to court records.
According to News Center 7, deputies and medics responded to the 7400 block of State Route 4 in Jefferson Township on August 25 after receiving initial reports of a crash.
Pierce was driving a 2014 Mercedes CLA 250 northbound on State Route 4 when it veered off the right side of the road before returning to the road.
She crossed the center line into the opposite lane and collided with a 2012 Brown Cadillac SRX driven by Sheryl Matthews, 62, according to the crash report.
Matthews returned to the center of the road, then turned off to the right. She tried to avoid the Mercedes, but the front left corners of both cars collided.
Medics transported both drivers to nearby hospitals, where Matthews died from her injuries.
The crash report stated that Matthews was not wearing a seatbelt.
Pierce suffered serious injuries.
According to online jail records, Pierce was arrested on November 11. She is currently in Montgomery County Jail.
Her next court appearance is scheduled for November 26.
