After breaking into a Central Florida home, an armed burglary suspect was shot dead

An armed residential burglary suspect was fatally shot after breaking into a Central Florida home.

This month, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call that someone had broken into a home on Double D Ranch Trail in Ruskin, south of Tampa.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered the suspect dead from multiple gunshots.

Detectives conducted an investigation and discovered that the homeowner’s adult son shot the suspect after he broke into the house. They pronounced the suspect dead at the scene.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said, “Imagine the fear of a stranger invading your home in the middle of the night.”

“This is every homeowner’s worst nightmare: a dangerous and brazen individual breaking in, demonstrating complete disregard for the safety and security of others.

We wish this family healing from this trauma.”
