In a disturbing case from Georgia that has received national attention, a 24-year-old mother, identified as L. Simon, was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after at least 30 years for the murder of her 20-month-old son, Quinton.
This tragic story tells the horrific details of a mother’s heinous act against her child, which includes deception, neglect, and the ultimate betrayal of parental trust.
Simon’s life took a dark turn when she was charged with malice murder, two counts of felony murder, concealing the death of another, and multiple counts of false reporting.

He stated, “The evidence will show that she did not want to admit that [what she threw away] was Quinton’s body, so she described the trash that she threw away as spoiled food. Around 1:17 a.m., she discards Quinton’s body as if it were trash.
The defendant violated a parent’s most basic and sacred trust in the most heinous way. In the middle of the night, she killed her own son, put him in her car, drove to a dumpster, and threw him away like trash.”
Prosecutors also noted Simon’s lack of remorse following her son’s disappearance. According to reports, Simon and her mother were seen drinking shots at a bar in October 2022, while the search for Quinton continued.
The emotional toll of this case became clear during the sentencing phase, when family members expressed their grief and outrage. Judge Stokes recognized the unimaginable horror Quinton must have experienced, as well as the profound impact his death had on the community.
