Caitlin Clark is very interested in bringing a National Women’s Soccer League team to Cincinnati.
In fact, she’s so interested in it that she’s part of the ownership group attempting to bring a team to town.
Cincinnati is a finalist for a NWSL expansion team and will find out if it gets the team by the end of 2024. If Cincinnati wins, it will become the 16th NWSL team, beginning play in 2026.
“The NWSL Cincinnati bid team is thrilled that Caitlin Clark has joined our ownership group in pursuit of bringing a women’s professional soccer team to our city,” the proposal team told ESPN.
“Her passion for the sport, commitment to elevating women’s sports in and around the Greater Cincinnati region, and influence as an athlete and role model for women and girls around the world, make her a vital part of our compelling bid to become the 16th team in the NWSL.”
In addition to being a minority owner, if Cincinnati is awarded the team, Clark is a top player in the WNBA who recently won the Rookie of the Year award. She helped the Fever reach the playoffs, finishing the season with an average of 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game.
She’s hoping for more in 2025, as it’ll be only her second year in the league. She is a major reason why so many new fans have started watching the WNBA, and she has inspired so many people in recent years.
