Citizens Bank closures begin in the Pittsburgh area; more expected throughout January amid renovations

Citizen Bank branches are closing in the Pittsburgh area.

In October, Citizens Financial Group announced that it would close 15 branches in six states, including several in southwestern Pennsylvania.

The location at 4570 Fifth Avenue in North Oakland closed today. Customers can receive service at 3718 Fifth Avenue in West Oakland.

The Citizens Bank in the GetGo, located at 200 Tarentum Bridge Road in New Kensington, will become a self-service location with “virtual human assistance.”

“Customers will be able to use the ATM unassisted or connect live with a Citizens Virtual Assistant, who can assist with more complex transactions such as large cash withdrawals, payments, account maintenance, and advice.”

Citizens Bank stated that the site transition is part of its ongoing efforts to review customer patterns and optimize branch locations.

Anyone who works for Citizens Bank in the area and wants to speak with a real person is encouraged to visit the Lower Burrell branch instead.

The Mount Lebanon branch at 712 Washington Road will close on January 23. These customers are encouraged to visit the Cochran Road Branch in Pittsburgh or the Bethel Park St. Clair Branch.

“Citizens remains committed to investing in the Pittsburgh area and improving our customers’ experiences. We will continue to renovate and open branches.

This year, we opened our new Pittsburgh Waterfront branch, our downtown corporate location at Four Gateway Center, a new branch at Two Gateway Center, and modernized and upgraded several other branches, including those in Moon Township and Sewickley.

Citizens Bank stated that it has several more investments planned beyond 2024, including a new branch in East Liberty that will open in early 2025 and a new flagship branch in Cranberry Township.

Customers can be served online or via mobile banking platforms.
