College football program attracts another embarrassing crowd on Saturday

Some very exciting college football games are happening across the country in Week 9, but not every stadium is full to the brim.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons (3-4) went to California to play the Stanford Cardinal (2-5) in ACC football.

This is one of the newest conference matchups because of the latest round of realignment.

Even though Stanford was hosting its homecoming game, it was clear that Cardinal fans had better things to do on a Saturday afternoon in the Bay Area.

A picture of the stadium taken just before the game shows that it is not even close to being full, even though it can hold more than 50,000 people.

It seems like most programs across the country, no matter what their record is, would at least get some people to come to homecoming.

However, this isn’t a new development for the Cardinal. Since the team’s fall from grace, Stanford Stadium has been mostly empty for the past few seasons.

This has been the case for a while, except when they were criticized for not showing up for games against Virginia Tech in Week 6 and SMU last week.

Stanford hasn’t had more than four wins since 2019, and the number of fans who come to games has dropped significantly.

According to D1.Ticker, Stanford’s attendance dropped by 12% last season compared to the five years before. Based on the first few weeks of this season, it looks like the problem is still there.

In terms of what was happening on the field, Stanford was behind by a score of 24–17 at halftime. The Cardinal were able to come back from being down 14-0 and having to change quarterbacks early in the game.

Both teams didn’t score in the third quarter of the game. They scored seven points in the fourth quarter, but the Demon Deacons scored three to win the game 27–24.

When it comes to fans, it’s clear that they’ll need to get some more wins before the stadium starts to fill up again.
