A former West Chester police officer is facing criminal charges after an investigation.
Michelle Berling was charged with three counts of tampering with evidence and one count of unauthorized use of property. These are felony charges.
According to West Chester spokesperson Barb Wilson, the department discovered in August that she may have violated the law and police policy.
Following a review, the department contacted the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation to investigate the allegations. Berling was placed on administrative leave.
Her case was presented to a grand jury, which returned an indictment this week.
The township has not specified the allegations against Berling, but they reportedly include unauthorized access to the Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway.
