A California man was arrested three years ago for beating his 4-year-old daughter badly. On Tuesday, he was found guilty of torturing, assaulting, and hurting a child physically.
Tekquan Alexander, who wanted to be a rapper, was arrested in November 2021 for abusing his young daughter over and over again. The girl had been abused by her father for days before she was paralyzed and flown to Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
Local news station KTLA said she had “traumatic injuries to her brain and spine, as well as broken bones and dozens of cuts and bruises.” The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office says there were “catastrophic” injuries that left her in a “vegetative state.”

Deputy District Attorney Rikole Kelly said in a statement after the verdict that Alexander’s daughter “faces a future filled with unimaginable challenges due to the defendant’s reprehensible conduct, but today’s verdict holds him accountable and brings a measure of justice to her and to all those profoundly affected by this case.”
In 2022, Keyonna Watts, the girl’s mother, talked to The Shade Room about the case. At the time their daughter was in the hospital, she and Alexander were living on opposite coasts. She was in Atlanta, Georgia, and Alexander had moved to Los Angeles to try to make it as a rapper.
Watts told TSR that a police officer told her her daughter was “bleeding from the brain.” Alex told her she had “passed out standing in time-out” during a FaceTime call.
TSR got records from the girl’s visit to the emergency room that showed that a piece of her skull was cut off to relieve the pressure from the bleeding.
Alexander told the court that his daughter was a “bed-wetter” and that he would “punish her by making her do rigorous exercises with an element of physical abuse, including but not limited to hitting her with boxing gloves, hitting her with a belt, and hitting her with speaker wire.”
Alexander will be given a sentence on December 12. He could get anywhere from seven years to life in prison.
