Eastern Kentucky Weather Alert: Tornado Watch Ends at 11 PM, Flood Watch Remains

Eastern Kentucky, KY – A tornado watch in Eastern Kentucky was canceled early Saturday evening as the severe threat subsided.

According to the National Weather Service, the watch expired about 90 minutes before its scheduled end time of 11:00 p.m. However, a flood watch remains in effect for the entire region overnight and into Sunday.

The tornado watch, which included cities such as London, Somerset, and Monticello, was issued in anticipation of isolated tornadoes, hail, and wind gusts of up to 70 mph.

The threat of severe weather has diminished, but authorities advise residents to remain cautious and weather-aware.

Heavy rainfall is expected to cause localized flooding, particularly in low-lying areas, so the flood watch remains in effect.

Officials advise drivers to exercise extreme caution on the roads and to avoid traveling through flooded areas. The flood watch is expected to last until Sunday morning.

With a population of nearly 280,000 in the affected areas, local hospitals and emergency services are on high alert as the situation unfolds.
