The Ohio State Buckeyes had a loaded team in 2024, and they won the program’s first national championship in a decade.
With so much talent returning for 2024, Columbus had high expectations. Now that the season is over, a slew of upcoming draft picks are gearing up for next month’s 2025 NFL Draft.
Ohio State should challenge the 2022 Georgia Bulldogs for the most draft picks from a single school, with 15. One Buckeye favorite who will be chosen next month is none other than Jack Sawyer.
Jack Sawyer doesn’t go far in the latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft
In a recent Cincinnati Bengals mock draft, Sawyer was selected in the second round. Cincinnati is a perfect fit for the four-year Buckeye, and Ohio State fans will not have to travel far to see him play professionally.
Sawyer had a successful career in Columbus as a former five-star player and one of the top recruits in the nation. Heading to Cincinnati is a great fit for the Pickerington, Ohio native, and they have a clear need after former Buckeye Sam Hubbard retired.
“As of this posting, Trey Hendrickson is still on the roster and the Bengals are trying to extend his contract. Even with Hendrickson, the Bengals need at least one more pass rusher to help off the edge. Sawyer doesn’t have the ideal length for an edge defender and there’s likely a good reason why he didn’t test at the NFL Scouting Combine last month. Regardless, he’s got a promising pass-rushing profile for a Day 2 pick and checks the Bengals’ usual boxes as a former five-star recruit who’s played in big games.” — John Sheeran, A to Z Sports Cincinnati
Sawyer played his best ball down the stretch of the season for the Buckeyes, and no play was bigger than the scoop and score from over 70 yards to seal the Cotton Bowl victory over Texas. Sawyer sacked Quinn Ewers and took it all the way back, resulting in one of the best plays in Ohio State history.

Sawyer is an excellent teammate and adds character to any locker room. The Ohio State product should have a successful NFL career wherever he goes. In 2024, Sawyer recorded nine sacks, 59 tackles, and one interception. A former Division I basketball recruit in high school, which many people are unaware of.
Expect Sawyer to enter the second or third round next month, and Cinciantti could be his landing spot. Both Ohio teams could use EDGE assistance, as the Cleveland Browns also require more depth behind Myles Garrett. Sawyer will be cheered on by a crowd of Buckeyes wherever he goes.
