Extreme Temperatures Brought to Northern California's Bay Area by Heat Wave

The National Weather Service has sent out an Excessive Heat Warning and a Heat Advisory for the Bay Area because it will be hot and dry for the next few days. Some of the hottest temperatures of the year will be caused by a system of rising high pressure. This will affect both coastal and inland places.

High temperatures are expected to hit dangerous levels; in the interior, they will be between 90°F and 110°F. Coastal areas will also have unusually warm temperatures, while nighttime lows in the middle of the country may stay in the mid-70s to mid-80s. There will likely be a lot of fires, especially in the central coast’s inland.

People are being told to stay inside, drink water, and avoid being outside during the hottest parts of the day as a safety measure. As the weekend approaches, dry conditions will make people more worried about fire weather.
