Flash Flood Warnings Extend Across St. Louis Area as Storms Bring Heavy Rain

St. Louis, MO – April 4, 2025 – A series of flash flood warnings are in effect throughout the St. Louis metro area as heavy thunderstorms continue to bring significant rainfall.

These storms have already dumped 1 to 4 inches of rain, and more is expected to fall throughout the evening.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, flash flood warnings will be in effect until late tonight, affecting a wide range of areas, including St. Louis, St. Charles, Chesterfield, Wildwood, and other nearby communities.

Flash flooding is already occurring in low-lying and urban areas, putting streets, highways, and underpasses at risk.

Creeks and streams in affected areas are overflowing, and drivers are advised to avoid flooded roads. Key highways, such as I-44 and I-70, are in dangerous conditions.

The NWS advises motorists to turn around when encountering flooded roads, as flood deaths frequently occur in vehicles.

State parks in the area, including Babler Memorial and Castlewood State Parks, are also impacted. Residents in the warned areas should remain vigilant and prepare for worsening conditions until 10:45 PM CDT.

Locals should monitor weather alerts and avoid unnecessary travel until the storm passes.
