He's hoping for a Trump "deathbed conversion," according to Bill Clinton: Imagine how amazing that would be

Former President Bill Clinton told Late Show host Stephen Colbert this week that he still hoped that President-elect Donald Trump would have a “deathbed conversion” and change his behavior.

During an interview with Clinton on The Late Show on Tuesday, Colbert asked, “Since you left, the Supreme Court has said that the president has broad immunity for his actions. If you had known that when you were in office, what would you have done differently?”

“Let me just say that opinion, in my opinion, should be repealed or drastically confined,” responded Hillary Clinton.

And if you want it changed, you probably just have to elect somebody else in the next election and the Supreme Court will change it so fast it’ll make your head swing. I’m pretty sure that if something really grievous happened, the Supreme Court would make a different distinction, otherwise our Constitution has essentially been suspended and we wouldn’t have the rule of law.

Clinton then stated, “You know, I was raised in the Baptist church, and I believe in deathbed conversions, so I still believe President Trump could be like Paul on the road to Tarsus [sic]. And imagine how wonderful that would be.

While the audience laughed, Clinton appeared serious, saying, “Really.” “If he wanted to be.”

“That would be lovely,” Colbert replied.

The former president concluded, “So I always think in anything like this, you gotta plan for the worst and work for the best.”
