The Trump administration is considering closing and selling federal facilities across the country, including in Massachusetts.
The United States General Services Administration has identified hundreds of federal properties as “not core to government operations” and “designated for disposal.”
These properties include the Social Security Administration building in Fall River and the United States Customs House in New Bedford.
The John F. Kennedy Federal Building and the Tip O’Neill Building in downtown Boston may also be for sale.
“Selling ensures that taxpayer dollars are no longer spent on vacant or underutilized federal facilities. The disposal of these assets helps to eliminate costly maintenance and allows us to reinvest in high-quality work environments that support agency missions,” according to the United States General Services Administration’s website.
