According to police, a man in Florida murdered his fiancée with a .357 Magnum revolver after she called off their wedding and returned her engagement ring at a football watch party on Sunday, telling her daughter, “I blew her brains out.”
Timothy Hyder, 57, was allegedly drinking and watching a game with his fiancée, Natalia Du’Mee, and several other people at a St. Cloud residence when she broke the terrible news about their marriage, according to St. Cloud Police.
The couple had been dating since October 2021 and were known to “frequently fight and argue” when they drank alcohol together, according to Hyder and relatives who spoke with authorities.
One family member, Du’Mee’s daughter, told police that Du’Mee and Hyder were at the football party together before returning home on Sunday night, where the murder occurred, and that they had been fighting all day before returning to their home.
It’s unclear what prompted Du’Mee to call off the engagement, but the two had alleged relationship issues for quite some time.
When Du’Mee’s daughter returned home, she reported hearing her mother and Hyder fighting prior to the fatal shooting.
“[Du’Mee’s daughter] stated she was lying in Natalie and Timothy’s bedroom watching a movie when she began to hear Natalie and Timothy argue,” according to Hyder’s arrest paperwork.”
Jenna stated that she turned up the volume on the television to avoid hearing them argue. Jenna stated that Timothy entered the bedroom and went into the wardrobe. Jenna stated that she left the bedroom thinking Timothy was preparing for bed.
Jenna stated that shortly after leaving the bedroom, she heard a loud noise. Jenna stated, “I went downstairs and saw Natalie bleeding from her head and mouth.”
According to Hyder, who also spoke with police about what happened, what he ended up grabbing from the closet that night was his .357 revolver, which he used to kill Du’Mee by shooting her in the head.
According to the affidavit, he allegedly confessed to the murder, claiming that his fiancée had literally “pushed” him to his limits.
“Timothy stated that when they would drink alcohol, they would get into arguments,” according to the affidavit.” Timothy stated that at the party, they began to argue, and Natalie told him that she would not marry him.
Timothy stated that when they arrived home, they sat on the back porch and discussed their relationship. Timothy stated that as they continued to argue, Natalie pushed him, reiterated her decision not to marry him, and returned the engagement ring.
At this point, Hyder told police he went inside, grabbed his .357 revolver, and returned to the back porch to see if Du’Mee meant what she said.
“Timothy stated he asked Natalie if she was sure that she was not going to marry him, and she stated yes,” according to the testimony. “Timothy stated, ‘Put one right in the back of her head.'” According to police, Hyder claimed not to have heard the gunfire.
“Timothy stated he placed the revolver back in its holster and told [Du’Mee’s daughter] to call 911,” according to the testimony. “Timothy stated he walked outside waiting for law enforcement to take him into custody.”
When cops arrived, Hyder allegedly told them he wished he could undo what had happened and that he “snapped.”
According to court records, after a search of his home, police discovered his gun “in plain sight” and charged him with second-degree murder. On Sunday, police arrested Hyder, and he is currently in custody without bond.
