When a Tennessee man returned home early from a trip, he was allegedly met with an unpleasant surprise: his 31-year-old wife was in bed with a barely-18-year-old man.
Authorities say 41-year-old Jonathan Belk stabbed 18-year-old Billy J. Floyd to death and stuffed his body in a trash can.
It occurred Saturday at a home in the 400 block of Powerline Road in Dunlap, about 40 miles north of Chattanooga.
When police arrived at the home, they discovered Belk “standing in his doorway covered in blood,” according to a criminal complaint obtained by local CBS affiliate WDEF.
Floyd’s body was discovered in the fetal position, stuffed in a trash can, according to cops.
Belk later allegedly told detectives that he attacked Floyd. Belk’s wife was also injured during the attack. Police say she arrived at the hospital with several stab wounds.
Detectives inquired whether Belk was concerned about any major issues other than his legal problems.
“I am concerned about my relationship with my wife because I offed him,” he allegedly said.
Belk is currently facing several charges, including criminal homicide. He remains in the Sequatchie County Jail.
Floyd was from Jasper and known as “Lil Bill,” according to his obituary. He had just turned 18, three days before his death.
“He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheelers, and working on everything,” according to the obituary. “He mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.”
A family friend started a GoFundMe to raise costs for funeral expenses.
