A fatal accident in Butler County killed one person and shut down a major road near the Great Miami River.
Butler County’s State Route 127 completely closed near the Great Miami River Bridge as a result of an early morning crash.
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to the crash at 5:50 a.m. on Sunday morning.
They reported that a 21-year-old man lost control of his 2011 Mitsubishi SUV while driving southbound on State Route 127.
According to police, he veered off the right side of the road and collided with a tree. They stated that by the time officers arrived, the driver had already died.
Authorities are investigating alcohol and excessive speed as possible causes of the crash.
Before reopening shortly before 8 a.m., the area remained closed for more than an hour.
