The Phoenix Police Department is looking for a suspect who fatally struck a man with his vehicle Friday evening in what investigators believe was an intentional assault.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to a call at 7:30 p.m. near 16th Street and Thomas Road, where they discovered 35-year-old Ethan Felix with serious injuries. Investigators later determined that he had been hit intentionally by a car.
Brian Felix, Ethan’s father, said he was told his son was having his brakes repaired in the parking lot of his apartment complex.
“I was told that he was hit by a vehicle, [got] caught between his vehicle and that other person’s vehicle,” Brian Felix explained to me. “At which time he was being assaulted, stabbed and that consequently caused him to lose consciousness.”
Brian Felix said he doesn’t know anyone who would want to harm his son.
“We’re going to celebrate 37 years of marriage this Tuesday, but we’re going to be at the medical examiner’s office, seeing our son and giving a report on what has happened to him,” Felix said.
Ethan’s older brother, Breon Felix, described him as embodying the best aspects of their family.
“This was just so devastating and it happened to someone who was genuine, loving and caring, very intelligent and giving,” Breon said. “He had all the best parts of me times 100.”
Ethan’s family stated that he leaves behind five children.
“They are maturing at the perfect time in their lives. “They needed their dad,” Brenda Felix said of her grandchildren. “And he’s not going to be there for them.”
The Phoenix Police Department is investigating the case, and the Felix family has asked the public for assistance.
“I want people to know that if they know who this person is, which I do believe they do by conversations I have had, to turn him in,” Felix told me. “So that the family can get justice, we can sleep better at night, and his children and parents can be at peace.
“Please do not let this person or persons get away with this,” Brenda Felix said.
