Indiana Weather Alert: Twin EF-1 Tornadoes Confirmed in Eastern Indiana

Adams County, IN – Following severe storms that swept through eastern Adams County on the evening of April 2, 2025, two EF-1 tornadoes were confirmed.

The tornadoes, which occurred simultaneously and moved in tandem, caused significant damage but no deaths or injuries.

According to the National Weather Service, one of the tornadoes had winds of up to 105 mph and traveled 2.33 miles. It struck near Monroe, Indiana, destroying well-built pole barns and causing roof damage to local Amish properties.

The second tornado, with estimated peak winds of 95 mph, followed a similar path, damaging pole barns and uprooting structures near Salem, Indiana.

These are two of the five tornadoes confirmed during the April 2 storm system. Additional surveys are being conducted in surrounding areas, including Steuben County.

Officials are advising residents to remain vigilant for potential future weather events as more assessments are completed.

Both tornadoes dissipated before reaching the Mercer County line, preventing additional damage.

Residents in affected areas should keep an eye on weather updates as local authorities continue to assess the damage.
