A California man murdered his mother at a Vallejo home and then went to a hospital where he stabbed his wife before turning the knife on himself, police say.
In a press release, Vallejo police said that their officers were called to Kaiser Permanente Hospital at 8:43 a.m. Saturday to help with a stabbing.
When they got there, medical staff were treating two people: a man later identified as 63-year-old Frank James McMillan and his wife, who had both been stabbed.
The police found that McMillan stabbed his wife at least once and then stabbed himself. The doctors operated right away on both victims. They should be able to stay alive.
Police say McMillan “spontaneously admitted” to killing his mother at a home on the 100 block of Campbell Avenue in Vallejo, which is in the San Francisco Bay Area, before he was stabbed in the hospital when he woke up from surgery.
Patrol officers checked on the house to make sure everyone was okay. As soon as the police knocked, they broke in and found McMillan’s mother dead inside. The news story didn’t say how she died. Her name won’t be released until her family is told.
He is being charged with murder and attempted murder. When he gets out of the hospital, he will be taken to jail.
Police have not said why McMillan is thought to have been committing so many crimes.
