Paducah, KY – A tornado watch has been issued for parts of four states due to the possibility of severe weather.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a watch for Southeast Illinois, Southwest Indiana, Western Kentucky, and Southeast Missouri Friday night.

The watch is in effect from 9:40 p.m. CDT Friday to 4:00 a.m. CDT Saturday.

According to the NWS, the main threats are a few tornadoes, some of which may be severe, and scattered damaging winds gusting up to 70 mph. Large hail, up to 1.5 inches in diameter, is also expected.

The storm system that triggered the watch is moving eastward, and severe thunderstorms are expected to last for several hours.

The watch area extends approximately 60 miles east and west of a line running from Paducah, KY to Owensboro, KY.

Residents in these areas should remain vigilant and monitor weather conditions for updates.

The NWS recommends that people be prepared for potential warnings and take immediate action if necessary.
