As a Minnesotan, there are a few cities that pop up in your head right away when you think about the snobbiest cities in our state. There are just some that tend to have that kind of air about them.
I wanted to see what ChatGPT thinks of Minnesota though and which towns it thinks are the snobbiest. Some of them lined up with my original thinking but there were two in particular that surprised me.
Of course, this is all in good fun! There are plenty of great people who live in these cities.
Minnesota’s Snobbiest Cities
The prompt I gave ChatGPT was:
What do you think are the 10 snobbiest cities in Minnesota?
Before going into the list, it stated:
If we’re talking about “snobby” cities in Minnesota, we’d probably be looking at places with higher incomes, upscale amenities, exclusive neighborhoods, and a reputation for being a bit, well… fancy.
All very true! I recently wrote about the most expensive small towns in Minnesota, and the majority of these cities were included.
But let’s take a look at the cities that ChatGPT determined to be the snobbiest.
10. Orono
Orono, Minnesota’s 10th snobbiest city, is located on Lake Minnetonka and has been named one of the most expensive places to live in the state.
9. Stillwater
This was the one that shocked me! My husband and I enjoy visiting Stillwater, and I never get the impression that it’s snobby.
However, ChatGPT writes: “Historic, beautiful, and a little bit posh—Stillwater has an undeniable air of class.” I see the ‘undeniable air of class’, but that does not strike me as snobbish.
8. Eden Prairie
According to what I’ve heard, Eden Prairie is becoming the new Edina, so this makes sense to include on the list.
7. Woodbury
Another name on the list that surprised me was Woodbury. It’s another location that I would never describe as’snobby’ if asked.
However, ChatGPT describes it as “polished, suburban, and full of high-end shopping and planned communities.”
6. Dellwood
Dellwood isn’t on Lake Minnetonka, but it’s still a high-end neighborhood, so it makes sense on this list. It is also one of the most expensive places to live in Minnesota.
5. Excelsior
Excelsior, located along the shores of Lake Minnetonka, has been ranked as the fifth snobbiest city by ChatGPT.
4. North Oaks
North Oaks is not on the traditionally high-end Lake Minnetonka, but it is one of the most expensive places to live. It makes sense to include it on the list of snobbiest cities.
3. Minnetonka
Minnetonka ranks as ChatGPT’s third most snobby city. True, when I hear someone is from Minnetonka, I immediately form an opinion. It’s unfair, but it’s true.
2. Wayzata
Wayzata is the second-snobbiest city. It’s located on Lake Minnetonka, is a beautiful, high-end town, and one of the most expensive places to live, so this makes sense.
1. Edina
When asked which town is the snobbiest, everyone in the Twin Cities immediately thinks of Edina.
The nickname ‘cake eaters’ has been given to people from Edina, so it makes sense that ChatGPT ranked Edina as the snobbiest city in Minnesota.
ChatGPT says: “The classic. ‘Cake Eaters’ is the nickname for a reason—wealthy, prestigious schools, and lots of designer boutiques.”‘
