Mountain View man allegedly robs and punches bicyclist outside Office Depot

The Mountain View Police Department says that last week, a man was arrested on suspicion of robbing a man outside of Office Depot and using force to take his wallet, cell phone, and electric bike.

At 11:51 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, police were told of a theft that happened near Office Depot at 910 El Monte Ave. The victim told the police that he and the suspect had a fight before the victim got on his electric bike and rode off.

The suspect, a homeless 31-year-old, is said to have followed the victim, hit him four times in the head with a punch, and then stolen his things. Police said that the victim and another witness helped them identify the suspect when they found him or her later.

Police say the suspect was arrested and booked into the main jail in Santa Clara County on suspicion of assault likely to cause great bodily harm.

County records show that the suspect is being held on $80,000 bail and has a court date set for November 12.
