Nevada Earthquake Alert: 3.4 Magnitude Quake Shakes Stagecoach Area Sunday

Stagecoach, NV – A 3.4 magnitude earthquake shook parts of western Nevada early Sunday morning, waking up residents in and around Stagecoach and Reno.

According to the Nevada Seismological Laboratory, the earthquake occurred at 2:22 a.m. local time, about 13 kilometers northwest of Stagecoach, at a depth of 9.8 kilometers. The epicenter is located northeast of Carson City and east of Reno, where light shaking was reported.

The United States Geological Survey confirmed that the seismic event was reviewed and officially recorded, citing a few citizen reports from the affected area. No damage or injuries were reported as of Sunday morning.

Minor tremors of this magnitude are common in western Nevada, which is located near the Walker Lane Seismic Zone, a known area of fault activity. Although the quake was minor, emergency officials warn residents to be prepared for aftershocks or larger events in the future.

Residents are encouraged to check home safety kits, secure heavy furniture, and go over earthquake safety procedures. Those who felt the earthquake can share their experiences with the USGS’s “Did You Feel It?” program, which supports ongoing seismic research.
