North Louisiana and South Arkansas Severe Weather: Quarter-Size Hail and Wind Risk Until 1 PM

El Dorado, AR – A fast-moving line of severe thunderstorms is sweeping across south-central Arkansas and north Louisiana on Saturday, prompting urgent warnings and an increased tornado risk.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, the warning will remain in effect until 1 p.m. CDT, affecting Union County in Arkansas and Union and Claiborne parishes in Louisiana.

The storms were moving northeast at 45 mph and were seen on radar from near Smackover to Homer.

The storms are bringing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail, which can cause damage to vehicles, roofs, siding, and trees.

Residents of El Dorado, Bernice, Strong, and Summerfield are advised to seek refuge in an interior room on the ground floor of a sturdy structure.

Tornadoes are also possible, and the region is under a Tornado Watch until 7 p.m. CDT.

Residents should avoid travel if possible, secure outdoor items, and stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or local media for updates.

This storm system is part of a larger severe weather pattern affecting the region this weekend, and additional warnings may be issued throughout the day.
