Paraprofessional from the local school is accused of raping a disabled student at the child's home

A local school paraprofessional is facing criminal charges after police say she raped a 15-year-old at their home.

Christin Coble was charged with rape on January 7 following the alleged assault at the teen’s home on January 6.

According to investigators, the student was at home that day because the district had closed due to inclement weather.

The victim’s mother informed 13 Action News that her child has the mental capacity of a nine-year-old.

“Our family is absolutely devastated over all of this,” she said of the assault.

The superintendent of the Woodmore Local School District told 13 Action News that Coble, a paraprofessional, was placed on administrative leave Tuesday morning pending an investigation.

“While the District cannot comment on an ongoing investigation or personally identifiable information of students, the District’s primary concern is always the safety and well-being of its students,” Superintendent Dr. Schaeffer stated on Tuesday.

She issued the statement before Coble was formally charged in the case.

The victim’s mother informed 13 Action News that Coble worked with her child at school.

Authorities stated that this is an ongoing investigation. Officers are considering bringing additional charges in the case, including a burglary charge against Coble for entering the home.
