Police are looking for a suspect after officers were struck by a dirt bike in Butler County

Trenton police are looking for the suspect who hit two officers with a dirt bike on Tuesday before fleeing the scene.

The incident happened around 8:15 p.m. near State Street and Poplin Place, while officers were investigating illegal off-road vehicle activity in a wooded area.

According to police, the officers came across a large group of dirt bikes and quads.

When the officers identified themselves and ordered the rider to stop, the individual drove directly at them, knocking both officers to the ground. The suspect then fled north.

In response, the Trenton Police Department sought assistance from the Butler County Sheriff’s Department and the Middletown Police Department.

Butler County deputies pursued two unlicensed dirt bikes down Middletown Eaton Road and apprehended one suspect on Carmody Boulevard.

The second suspect attempted to evade capture by hiding in the woods and covering his dirt bike with foliage, but was apprehended with the assistance of a drone.

Matthew David Short Jr., 23, and Noah Alexander Terrell Fleming, 19, both of Middletown, were arrested and charged with traffic offenses. According to police, additional criminal charges are expected.
