Prices of eggs in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts are expected to "get much worse"

Well, this is fantastic news for Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. NOT.

According to apnews.com, the USDA predicts record-high egg prices in 2025. Prices could rise by more than 40 percent.

No Birds, No Eggs

According to the article, egg prices have reached an all-time high of $4.95 per dozen, but I’ve seen them for much more in New Hampshire, depending on the brand.

I’ve seen eggs priced at more than $12.00 per dozen. What?!

Bird Flu Spreading in New England

Bird flu has killed more than 166 million birds, the majority of which were egg-laying chickens. Another 30 million birds have been killed this year alone, according to the AP article.

There is a Plan to Help

According to the article, the Trump administration is investing $500 million in biosecurity, $400 million for farmers affected by bird flu, and $100 million in research.

The US Department of Agriculture has already compensated farmers for the birds they had to kill, totaling approximately $1.2 billion.

Is this going to help? I have no idea.

Local farms in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts are a must-see.

Recently, I’ve been purchasing my eggs from a local farm.

Getting your eggs from a small, local farm is a win-win. You help your own finances, and you certainly help the farmer.

Time to Become Vegan?

Nobody else should care about what you put in your mouth. Having said that, going vegan may have its own set of issues. For example, if your body requires more iron, you will have to eat a lot of vegetables to get it.

Also, I gained a lot of weight after going vegan for a short period of time. There are many bad foods you can eat that contain no animal products. Consider sugar, flour, etc.

Tendercrop Farms in Dover recently offered reasonable egg prices, but they have since raised their prices.
