A minute-and-five-second video posted to Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker’s official X account Friday afternoon was enough to mock President Donald Trump’s decision to rename the Gulf of Mexico and desire to buy Greenland.
The Illinois governor also joked about annexing Green Bay.
The governor, eyes fixed on the camera, severe expression, grave tone, announced that after Trump mentioned purchasing Greenland, “Illinois will now be annexing Green Bay to protect itself against enemies, foreign and domestic.” The Green Bay Packers logo then displays at the bottom of the video.

The tongue-in-cheek declaration places the Illinois governor among the latest public individuals and organizations to join the Internet bandwagon of renaming diverse geographies.
Oh, and Green Bay, Illinois, will no longer sit on Lake Michigan. According to the governor’s earlier announcement in the video, Lake Michigan would be renamed Lake Illinois. “A Great Lake deserves to be named after a great state,” according to him.
Elon Musk tweeted, “Nothing is more dangerous than getting between JB Pritzker and the buffet table!” Pritzker responded with X. Elon Musk posted from his own account on the X platform, which he owns. X was once known as Twitter.
Pritzker answered with a photo of himself purchasing a hot dog at Wieners Circle. He wrote, “I salute @The WienerCircle, not Nazis.”
