Despite President Donald Trump’s widespread pardons for insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol on January 6, a Texas woman is still facing possible prison time in connection with a case related to the riots.
Abigail Shry, 44, is set to be sentenced on May 5 after pleading guilty to making a violent and racist threat against Tanya Chutkan, a judge overseeing Trump’s January 6 criminal case in Washington, according to CBS News.
According to court documents, Shry called Chutkan’s chambers in August 2023 and used a racial slur before threatening to kill anyone who criticizes Trump, all Democrats in Washington, or members of the LGBTQ community.
“You are in our sights, and we want to kill you,” Shry allegedly told Chutkan over the phone.
Prosecutors claim Shry also stated, “If Trump is not elected in 2024, we will kill you.”
Investigators went to Shry’s home in Alvin, Texas, and she admitted to making the phone call. Shry stated that she did not intend to travel to Washington, D.C. or Houston to carry out her threats, but if Lee visits Alvin, investigators should be concerned.
Shry’s sentencing has been postponed several times, but he still faces the possibility of imprisonment.
