American workers who have paid enough in payroll taxes to Social Security and have a disability that keeps them from working for more than a year can get SSDI payouts.
You won’t be able to get the October 2024 SSDI payments if you haven’t filed and been approved by Social Security. You’ll get paid twice more this month after the checks that were sent out on October 3 and 9. Here are the numbers and who is eligible.
Who qualifies for the next SSDI payments in October?
Some people who get Social Security because of a disability have already picked up their checks since it’s already the second week of October. Some people won’t get their money until next week, though.
For instance, if you want to get the October 16 SSDI check, you need to:
- have filed after April 30, 1997
- got approval
- not break any SSA’s rule
- do not receive SSI while on SDI
- have been born from 11-20, regardless of the month or year you were born
A lot of the rules are the same for people who have to wait until October 23 to get money from Social Security. The birth date will be the only thing that changes. That means your birthday must be between July 21 and July 31.

What are the payment amounts for SSDI on October 16 and 23?
As of October, the most the Social Security Administration can send in a payment is $3,822. Disability recipients, on the other hand, get average income more often.
As of August 2024, the average salary for people who get SSDI is $1,539 a month. You might even be able to get Supplemental Security Income if your amount is less than that.
It’s possible for you to get it if you meet the other SSI standards. Remind them that they may also be able to get Social Security Disability Insurance if they have a child or were just married. This way, your family could get extra money every month from your record.
