Nashville, TN – A Tornado Watch has been issued for portions of Northern Alabama and Southern Middle Tennessee from 8:30 p.m. CDT Saturday to 3:00 a.m. CDT Sunday.
The watch area, which includes Huntsville, Florence, and Lawrenceburg, is at risk of severe weather overnight.
According to the National Weather Service, the primary threats include the possibility of a few tornadoes, some of which could be severe enough to cause widespread damage.
Furthermore, scattered damaging winds with gusts up to 75 MPH and isolated hail as large as 1.5 inches in diameter are predicted.
The tornado watch affects nearly 1.8 million people, including 514 schools and 40 hospitals, and extends from Muscle Shoals, AL to Huntsville, AL.
Supercell thunderstorms from northeast Mississippi are moving into the watch area, posing a continued risk of tornadoes and damaging winds.
Residents in the affected areas should remain vigilant, monitoring weather updates and bracing for potential severe weather overnight.
The NWS emphasizes that conditions are favorable for the development of severe storms and advises everyone to remain vigilant for additional warnings.
