A woman killed in an Indiana State Police shooting near Frankfort, Indiana, on Monday morning had been wanted in connection with a fatal shooting near Cincinnati earlier that morning.
Terea Brown, 42, was shot and killed in Indiana, according to the police chief of Springfield Township, Ohio.
The chief believes Brown murdered Lacresha Black, 33, who was discovered dead outside her Springfield Township home shortly after 7 a.m. on Monday.
According to investigators, Brown fled the scene in a dark-colored 2014 Chevrolet Cruze.
According to a news release issued Monday night, Indiana State Police troopers were alerted just after 9:30 a.m. Monday to the SUV Brown was driving northbound on Interstate 65.
Troopers caught up with Brown about 4 miles north of the State Road 38 exit for Sheridan and Thorntown.
The SUV exited I-65 at the State Road 28 exit for Frankfort and Attica, which is approximately a 10-minute drive west of Frankfort.
According to a social media post from Indiana State Police’s Lafayette, the SUV came to a stop on County Road 800 W, just south of State Road 28. At that point, a shot was fired by both the vehicle and troopers.
A spokesperson for the Indiana State Police previously told News 8 that the shooting occurred near the BP gas station and Get Go convenience store at the State Road 28 exit.
“The Indiana State Police SWAT team arrived on the scene and approached the vehicle in an armored vehicle. SWAT officers entered the vehicle and discovered a deceased person inside.
No other occupants were discovered. During the investigation, a firearm was discovered inside the suspect’s vehicle,” the social media post read.
Sgt. John Perrine of Indiana police told News 8 that no officers were injured. The post stated that no one else was injured.
Once the investigation is complete, Indiana State Police will submit the findings to the Clinton County prosecutor for review.
Springfield Township is about 20 minutes’ drive north of downtown Cincinnati.
