Two charged with killing Hayward youngster in a drive-by shooting

OAKLAND —  Two men have been charged with murder in the shooting death of an 18-year-old girl in a drive-by. The girl was hit in the brain stem and died seven hours later—court records show.

Court records show that Daniel Ramos, 46, and Angel Pimentil, 26, are both charged with murder, shooting at a moving vehicle while it is occupied, and shooting from a moving vehicle while it is occupied. Ramos, the person who is thought to have shot and killed the victim, has also been charged with a gun increase.

Angel Enciso Ayala, 18, was driving down the 27000 block of Pompano Avenue in a car when the suspects drove by in their own car, according to the police. Just as the two cars went by one another, Ramos is said to have opened fire and hit Enciso Ayala in the neck. Not far away, he crashed his car on Havana Avenue.

He owned the Chevrolet Suburban that Ramos is said to have fired from, so he quickly became the main suspect. Police looked at Pimentil’s car’s computer system and found that his cellphone’s Bluetooth system was connected to the Chevrolet before, during, and after the murder. This made him a possible accomplice.

Court records show that Ramos has been arrested and has been to court twice, but he has not yet made a plea. Pimentil doesn’t look like he has been caught yet.

Both Alameda County and San Joaquin County jail records show that Pimentil is not in prison in either county, where he is known to hang out. Until now, he has not been in court.

Both men have had interactions with cops in the past. In 2010, Ramos was found guilty of having an assault weapon, and Pimentil has been found guilty of having a gun and drugs in a jail facility, according to court records.

Court records show that Pimentil was most recently found guilty of second-degree robbery in Alameda County in 2019.

Last year, when he was still on parole, cops looked into whether he had broken his terms because of an Instagram post on someone else’s account that showed him holding a gun. Police said that during the probe, they found that he was a member of a gang in Hayward, but he was never charged.

Ramos is being held without bail. Police haven’t said why the shooting happened or if Enciso Ayala was the planned target or someone who was shot by mistake.
