The Des Moines Police Department arrested two men on multiple felony charges after a burglary occurred overnight.
At about 3:16 a.m., DMPD 1st Watch patrol officers responded to the 3300 block of East Euclid Avenue for a burglary alarm in a commercial building.
When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered evidence of a burglary, but no suspects were present. Additional officers started searching the area.
Officers followed tracks in the snow to a wooded area north of the scene, where they discovered a tent.
DMPD officers announced themselves, and two men fled the scene but were apprehended a short distance later.
Officers discovered lottery tickets on both men and found additional lottery tickets and cigarettes inside the tent.
The owner identified these items as property taken during the burglary.
David Charles Fisher, 49 is charged with:
- burglary – third degree
- theft – second degree
- theft of lottery ticket – eight counts
- interference with official acts.
47-year-old Troy Dean Lorenz is charged with:
- burglary – third degree
- theft – second degree
- theft of lottery tickets – 11 counts
- interference with official acts
- probation violation warrant.
Fisher and Lorenz were both taken to Polk County Jail.
