A West Virginia mother pleaded guilty to child abuse resulting in injury after her child was discovered with a black eye.
Brittany Fluharty, 31, of Follansbee, West Virginia, pleaded guilty following a plea agreement. She is set to be sentenced to supervised release, according to The Herald-Star.

According to officials, the child was struck on average three times per day.
The child reported the abuse to a teacher at school in January 2023.
According to the Herald-Star, Fluharty no longer cares for the child, who was abused by a previous caregiver.
Fluharty’s husband, 35-year-old Jacob Fluharty, pleaded guilty to child neglect that caused injury.
Jacob Fluharty was sentenced to six months in jail and two years of supervised probation, as well as an order to register on a state registry for child abuse and neglect.
