A 57-year-old Wyoming man was killed in an alleged assault last week, and a man who lived with him is now facing charges.
The Wyoming Police Department reported that the assault occurred around 6:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Police responded to the 3700 block of Byron Center Avenue SW, near 36th Street.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered 57-year-old David Goron of Wyoming with severe injuries. First responders transported him to a nearby hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
Police believe the suspect, 36-year-old Jeremiah Hernandez, fled the area. Authorities arrested him following “an extensive search,” according to police.
Hernandez is being held in Kent County Jail without bond on charges of assault with intent to cause great bodily harm, which is less serious than murder.
Authorities expect charges to be amended in subsequent court proceedings.
Law enforcement said they are still investigating what happened, but confirmed to 13 ON YOUR SIDE that the two men lived together.
