In the "most horrifying murder" a judge has ever witnessed, an Ohio man forced a 10-year-old to make a "bed" for his mother

An Ohio man was sentenced to 39 years to life in prison for strangling a woman and then making a “bed” for her to rot in, shocking the judge who presided over the case.

In December, Kandawaswika Kahari pleaded guilty to the murder of Susan Ramberg, 46. Following the murder, Kahari coerced Ramberg’s 10-year-old son into helping him build what the boy described as a “bed” in the trunk of a car.

Ramberg’s body was left to rot at the residence, and the boy was left alone with it, according to ABC-6.

The boy told police that in the weeks between the murder and the body’s discovery, Kahari would stop by to check on him and bring him food, according to ABC-6.

“He should never have to hug his deceased mother or put her in the car with her murderer. According to ABC-6, Ramberg’s relatives told the court during sentencing that he should never have to play dead while lying in his own blood in order for his mother’s murderer to stop kicking him.

“He should never have been left alone in a house for three weeks, knowing that his mother’s body is in the garage. He should never have to live in fear, wondering if and when he will be fed by a man who attempted to kill him.”

Kahari strangled Ramberg in her home around Feb. 16, according to WBNS-10. Kahari pleaded guilty to aggravated murder, felonious assault, and gross abuse of the corpse. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors did not seek the maximum sentence of life without parole.

According to ABC-6, the judge in the case said it was “one of the most horrific murders that I’ve encountered while on the bench.”
