Ohio shoppers have just one day left to shop at Big Lots, as the local discount retail chain prepares to close hundreds of stores across the country, including eight in Ohio.
The company, founded in 1967 as Consolidated Stores and headquartered in Columbus, is on its final weekend of liquidation sales, with all remaining inventory expected to be sold by the end of the weekend.
Big Lots, which filed for bankruptcy in September and is now $3.1 billion in debt, is rapidly closing stores across the country. Eight stores in Ohio, where the retailer was founded, will close permanently.
The liquidation sales, which offer discounts of up to 90% on select items, have drew in customers eager to get a deal before the stores close permanently. As the final weekend approaches, customers are rushing to take advantage of the deep discounts before Big Lots leaves the Ohio retail scene.
