It appears that we live in one of the “unhappiest cities in America.” It appears that many other Ohioans also live in unhappy cities.
A recent WalletHub study compared 200 cities in the United States, ranking their “happiness,” and five cities in Ohio were at the bottom of the list.
They drew on their various findings by examining each city using 29 key indicators of happiness, ranging from depression rates to income growth rates to average leisure time spent per day.
Fremont, California, is the “Happiest City in America” with the highest share of households (80%!) earning more than $75,000 per year.
But towards the end of the list, there’s us in Columbus, ranking at 123, plus Cincinnati at 154, Akron at 169, Toledo at 177. Cleveland is the very last on the list, at 182, making it the unhappiest city in America. These Ohio cities ranked low in all categories, such as emotional & physical well-being, income & employment, and community & environment.
What do you all think? Do you feel unhappy living in Columbus, and if so, why?
