Police in Indiana are looking for answers after discovering the remains of a woman who had been missing for more than four years.
Shannon Orton, 37, disappeared sometime in the summer of 2020. She was last spotted in a CVS in July. She had been out of touch with her family for roughly a week at that point. She was reported missing in September, according to the Chicago Tribune. Orton formerly lived in a mobile home park.
More than four years later, authorities have reported that her remains have been discovered.
“Portage Detectives began investigating the cold-case disappearance of Shannon Orton in the summer of 2023 after being contacted by the Hobart Police Department with new information,” the agency said.
The department is encouraging the public to come forward with any information they may have about Orton’s disappearance. The police are currently investigating “multiple suspects” according to them.
The police have asking anybody with information to contact Detective Nicole Heuberger at 219-764-5707 or nheuberger@portage-in.com.
“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of Ms. Orton,” the police told reporters.
