A man in Ohio crashed into three cars after dropping his doughnut, according to reports.
“Crash occurred while driver [was] reaching down for food,” according to a citation document provided to PEOPLE by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
According to the citation obtained by PEOPLE, Nicholas Fleming was issued a ticket for his involvement in the crash, which occurred on Wednesday, April 2 at the intersection of Rock Creek and Dewey roads.
“Updated information while en route confirmed that three vehicles were involved, all with heavy damage, and one patient was entrapped,” the Thompson Fire Department and the Hambden Fire Department, who attended the scene, wrote on Facebook.
According to local Fox affiliate station WJW and CBS affiliate station WOIO, a driver caused the accident after reportedly dropping his doughnut, citing the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
According to WJW, the man told troopers that “he was unfamiliar with the area” and was reaching for his coffee when he dropped the sweet treat.
According to the outlet, the distracted driver collided with two cars heading west after reportedly going left of center.
The Thompson Fire Department stated in a Facebook post that “Montville Fire Rescue transported one patient to UH-Geauga [UH Geauga Medical Center] with non-life-threatening injuries.”
“The patient assessed by the Leroy Township Fire Department refused transport and was treated and released on the scene.
The Hambden Fire Department assisted with the extrication of the final patient, who was also transported by Thompson to UH-Geauga with non-life-threatening injuries,” the post stated.
According to Head, the man driving the third car was seriously injured in the accident, with four broken ribs, a broken wrist, and a broken knee.
The Thompson Fire Department confirmed that a medical helicopter had been put on standby, but it was canceled after “all patients were deemed stable.”
WJW reported that the driver had been charged with causing the crash, and the road had been closed for about three hours.
“The scene was turned over to the Ohio State Highway Patrol for investigation,” the Thompson Fire Department posted on Facebook.
PEOPLE contacted the Ohio State Highway Patrol for more information, but they did not respond immediately.
