Fort Worth, TX – A Tornado Watch is in effect until 9 p.m. CDT this evening for several counties in Central and North Central Texas. The watch, which was initially issued earlier today, has now been expanded to include two additional counties.
The National Weather Service has issued a watch for Anderson, Falls, Freestone, Henderson, Leon, Limestone, Milam, Robertson, Navarro, and Van Zandt counties in Central Texas.
In addition, the alert has been extended to Hopkins and Rains counties in North Central Texas. Cities affected by the watch include Athens, Buffalo, Cameron, Canton, and Corsicana, among others.
Residents in these areas should remain vigilant because severe weather may create conditions conducive to tornado development.
The National Weather Service recommends that people stay indoors, avoid windows, and have a plan in place to seek shelter immediately if a tornado warning is issued.
Local authorities will closely monitor conditions during this Tornado Watch, which will last until 9 p.m. CDT tonight.
Local emergency services have been notified, and public safety officials are prepared to respond. The public is urged to continue monitoring weather reports and take appropriate precautions.
