A 20-year-old Ohio man was arrested for assaulting a Subway worker at gunpoint

On Thursday, authorities in Sharonville arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly robbing and sexually assaulting a Subway employee at gunpoint.

According to police, the assault occurred at a tube station on Mosteller Road. Officers responded to the incident around 7:15 a.m.

The charges against Leyard Eckis, 20, include rape and aggravated robbery. They took him into custody and transported him to the Hamilton County Justice Centre.

According to court documents, the victim was walking into the store for work when Eckis allegedly followed her inside. Eckis allegedly assaulted her, forcing her to open the cash register before taking the money.

Officers discovered Eckis hiding at a United Dairy Farmers location just north of the Subway. It is believed he fled the scene on a bike.

According to court documents, Eckis admitted to the police during questioning that he had sexual contact with the victim and stole money from the business.

However, Eckis refuted the police-attributed confession during his court appearance on Friday and entered a not guilty plea to both charges. The court set his bond amount at $100,000.

Police identified Eckis, who is homeless and of Micronesian descent. Investigators are looking for more information about him and the victim, and they are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.

Those with information about the crime or Eckis can contact Lieutenant Walter Cordes of the Sharonville Police Department at 513-563-1147.
